I still have not been able to catch my breath. What a crazy game. Personally I’ve never seen anything like it in regards to the Mavs that I can remember. Three overtimes…seemed like about 15 game tying shots tonight!
For the first time since 1989, the Dallas Mavericks were involved in a triple overtime game. I was only 4 years old at the time but I’m pretty sure I was forced to watch it by my mom. MFFL baby! Sad thing about both of these games…Dallas lost both of them.
You can always count on Dirkules to have a monster game when going up against the Jazz. Last meeting he poured in 40 points. Same result for tonight’s game…plus 9 rebounds. Typical demigod type showing for Dirkules. He hit the big 3 pointer to tie the game in the first overtime to send it to two.
JET had a pretty solid night as well. 27 points and hit big shots down the stretch. My MVP of the game for Dallas goes to Vinsanity. 18 points, 12 big rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He hit two 3’s in a row with under a minute left in regulation that were game winner material. We all know…if Vince hits a potential game winner…the other team will come back and score for the buzzer beater (Durant anyone?).
Another. Center. DOMINATES. Big Al Jefferson…28 points along with a RIDICULOUS rebound total of 26! Talk about pure dominance. Seemed as if he gobbled up every miss the Mavs shot. Paul Millsap who went scoreless most of regulation…jammed in a game tying dunk with about 2 seconds left in regulation. He did most of his work in the OT’s finishing with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Huge win for the Jazz as they fight to keep the playoff dream alive!
Playoff talk time! How does this loss affect the Mavs chances? Glad you asked! Dallas has 4 games left…2 in Dallas against Houston and GS and 2 away against Bulls and Hawks. We are currently 6 games over .500.
Phoenix has 5 games remaining…4 home against OKC, Clippers, Denver and Spurs with one away game against Utah. Suns are currently 3 games over .500.
Utah has 4 games remaining…3 home against Orlando, Phoenix, and a home/away game with Portland. Utah is currently 2 games over .500 and that Utah/Phoenix game will be absolutely HUGE! Probably the most important game of the whole entire season in the NBA
Houston…sigh. 4 losses in a row have them sitting UNCOMFORTABLY in the 9th spot. Yikes…talk about choke job! They come into town on Wednesday night…and please believe I will be in attendance screaming like a mad man.
Mavs want to make the playoffs without looking over their shoulder and worrying about other teams surpassing them??? Easy…just WIN WIN WIN! Win 3 of the last 4 games and the Mavs are in the playoffs REGARDLESS of what the other teams do. Win only 2 of 4 and things get a little more interesting…seeing as how we are only 1.5 games ahead of Phoenix/Houston and 2 games ahead of Utah. Win only 1 of 4 and things get a LOT more interesting. Win NONE of the 4…pray for losses for the other teams. That Phoenix/Utah game…TNT…April 24th…biggest game of the season. The Mavs might be interested in who wins that game. Hopefully…they just WIN and don’t have to worry.
