Dallas plays fifth match of the month

FC Dallas (2-1-1, 7 points) leaves Toyota Stadium for the second time in the 2019 MLS regular season to visit Real Salt Lake (1-2-1, 4 points) at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, March 30 at 8PM CT. This is the first of two meetings this season between the two clubs. Dallas hosts RSL on Saturday, July 27 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.Details You Need to Know:

Things to Know about #RSLvFCD

It’s a Young Man’s Game. Literally. 
FC Dallas started five Homegrown Players (Reggie Cannon, Edwin Cerrillo, Jesus Ferreira, Jesse Gonzalez and Paxton Pomykal) in its 2-1 win against the Colorado Rapids on March 23 at Toyota Stadium. It was the fourth time in FCD history, the club had started five Homegrowns. The average age of Dallas’ Starting XI for that match was 23.7. Six total Homegrowns played as 17-year-old Thomas Roberts made his MLS debut in the 79th minute of the match.

March Madness
March Madness isn’t exclusive to the NCAA. FC Dallas has had a busy month, as well. Saturday’s match against RSL is FCD’s fifth game of the season and fifth of the month. This is just the second time in club history Dallas has played five matches in the opening month of the season. FC Dallas also played five matches in the first month of the 2013 season.

Familiar Faces
FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez has some history with Real Salt Lake head coach Mike Petke. The two played together for the Colorado Rapids during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Against Real Salt Lake 
FC Dallas fell to Real Salt Lake in their last meeting with RSL earning three points at home against FCD on July 7 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Dallas played to a 1-1 draw against at Toyota Stadium in the 2018 regular season opener on March 3. Dallas is 19-12-7 overall against Real Salt Lake. In Utah, FCD is 6-11-4.

About Real Salt Lake 
Real Salt Lake set an MLS record last weekend when it started six Homegrown players against LAFC. In all, seven Homegrown players played for RSL in the 2-1 loss to LAFC. Real has dropped two straight matches after earning its only victory of the season in a 1-0 win over Va
