Dallas Cowboys Week One Snap Counts

The Dallas Cowboys have finally got underway into the 2017 NFL season with a 19-3 victory over their bitter rivals, the New York Giants. The team came away from the game relatively healthy but did lose Orlando Scandrick early on to a hand injury. The early prognosis is a fracture in his hand that many believe he will play with. Here is the total snap count breakdown for the Dallas Cowboys.

The only real surprise may have been how much Jaylon Smith played getting 36 of a possible 56 defensive snaps. All indications were that Justin Durant would take most of the snaps but that was far from the case. As shown above, Durant played on two defensive snaps.

The Cowboys are known for using rotations among the defensive line, however in the middle it wasn’t the case. Mainly playing Maliek Collins and Stephen Paea most of the game. The Cowboys did rotate their defensive ends pretty regularly. The one playing the most being Demarcus Lawrence who finished the game with two sacks of Eli Manning.

No surprise to see Jeff Heath a top the total snaps list. He was projected to be the starter opposite of Byron Jones and he played almost every special teams snap as well.
