Dentmon, Legends Outlast Suns in Back and Forth Battle

Following a win last night against the OKC Blue, the Northern Arizona Suns came to town on a home back-to-back for the Legends.

For the Suns, former No. 1 draft pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers Anthony Bennett and reigning Slam Dunk champion Derrick Jones Jr. lead the way as far as notable players go.

Though Texas was shorthanded without Keith Hornsby, Brandon Ashley, and Donald Sloan, that didn’t stop the Legends from bringing their “A” game.

The Legends started the game off fast, running in transition and creating points off the Suns turnovers. The Suns poised themselves in the second quarter, putting them down only one at halftime, 53-52.

Both teams came out flying up and down the court in the third. Some electrifying dunks by Derrick Jones Jr. energized the Suns but the Legends strengthened their lead by one heading into the final frame.

In the fourth, the home team took over. The G-League’s leading scorer, Justin Dentmon caught fire which was the Suns downfall, scoring 17 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth to help the Legends win 119-107.

Jameel Warney continued his dominance in the paint, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 boards. Kyle Collinsworth finished with 24 points and 8 rebounds.

Josh Gray went on a scoring spree in the fourth for the Suns, which sparked some trash talk between Gray and Wade Baldwin IV, yet Gray’s efforts weren’t enough to top the Legends.

The Legends have a few days off before hitting the road to face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday.
