Draft Countdown: Games to watch if you’re team tank

After another loss on Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cowboys head into their bye week at 2-7. The Cowboys would pick third in the 2021 draft if the season ended today.

It’s not all negative for the Cowboys as the defense appears to finally be headed in the right direction after holding the Steelers to under 30 points.

There was some bad news that came out of the game Sunday. Rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a broken bone in his foot and will be out at least 4-6 weeks. It’s realistic that Diggs will not return this season.

As we started last week, I have the three most relevant games to pay attention to in Week 10 if you’re wanting the Cowboys to secure a top 5 pick.

Current NFL Draft order

  1. New York Jets (0-9)
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7)
  3. Dallas Cowboys (2-7)
  4. New York Giants (2-7)
  5. Washington Football Team (2-6)

Washington @ Detroit Lions

Who to root for and why: Washington. Washington’s loss last week helped the Cowboys move from 5th to 3rd in the draft. However, a win would be much appreciated this week against an already 3 win Detroit team.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Who to root for and why: Giants. If the Giants pull off this win, they will pull within two of the loss column of the Eagles and could really start believing that they could actually win this awful division.

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears

Who to root for and why: Vikings. With a win against the Bears, the Vikings will be on the verge of getting back into the playoff race.
