Mavs host open practice at AAC

DALLAS, TX–Live action Dallas Mavericks basketball is officially back!

It was the first opportunity for Mavs fans to get a glimpse of the 2017-18 squad as the Mavs held their league-mandated, open practice (formerly Fan Jam) on Friday afternoon at the American Airlines Center.

The Dallas Mavericks Dancers, ManiAACs, Street Team, Champ, MavsMan, and over 3,200 fans were in attendance as the Blue Team defeated the White Team 37-27 behind seven points each from Seth Curry and Devin Harris.

While rookie sensation Dennis Smith Jr. showed off plenty of flash and athleticism during the teams’ intrasquad scrimmage, he struggled from the floor, finishing with just three points including a missed highlight-reel dunk late in the second half.

Smith Jr. split point guard duties with Yogi Ferrell, who finished with a game-high eight points. Dorian Finney-Smith had seven points and Harrison Barnes added two points. Dirk Nowitzki was held scoreless.

Wesley Matthews sat out with a sore right ankle. Center Nerlens Noel also sat out due to a scheduled day of rest.
