Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi on what women would be a part of her Mt. Rushmore

The Dallas Wings are currently 4-4 after a tough loss 75-72 against the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night at the College Park Center. Skylar Diggins led the way with 16 points, four assists, and four rebounds. Making a return to the court to after an injury Allisha Gray who added 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists. After the game, she said that she is trying to work on getting back in rhythm after being absent for the first seven games of the season.

Kayla Thornton had a solid outing for the Wings with 12 points and eight rebounds, and an assist. Liz Cambridge added 10 points and three rebounds, but she was in foul trouble all night and would foul out in the fourth quarter.

As for the Mercury, Diana Taurasi scored 21 points and her partner in crime Brittney Griner added in 18 before fouling out late in the game. With the win, the Mercury-added to their winning streak up it six games in a row.

Camille Little was fouled after an offensive rebound, and she made both charity stripe attempts to give Phoenix a 73-72 lead. Following a timeout with 15.6 seconds left, Aerial Powers missed an open jumper, and Diggins-Smith stepped out of bounds after securing the rebound. Briann January made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left and Diggins-Smith the back of the rim as time expired.

After the game, I was able to catch up with Diana Taurasi and ask her what women would be a part of her Mt. Rushmore?

She would state that would include Lisa Leslie at the center position, Tina Thompson at power forward, Sheryl Swoopes at small forward, Cheryl Miller at the shooting guard, and fellow Husky alum Sue Bird at the point. The Wings play the Las Vegas Aces on Friday at College Park Center.
