What to watch for as the Mavericks defend home court against the Clippers

Bounce Back Game

Last night, the Clippers were run off the floor by the New Orleans Pelicans, 135-115. Because of the lopsided loss, neither Kawhi Leonard nor Paul George played over 29 minutes, leaving them fresh legs for tonight’s contest against the Mavs. Losers of four of their last five games and an upset Kawhi Leonard, I’d expect Leonard, Paul George and company to look to bounce back tonight in the second game of a back-to-back.

Ball Movement

In the Mavericks victory against the Nuggets on Saturday, you could argue that was one of their best offensive performances on the season. The ball was humming on offense all night long as everyone consistently made the extra pass to find an open shot. Tonight against the Clippers, that ball movement and moving without the basketball will be key as perimeter defenders like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will surely try to throw a wrench in the Mavericks plans.

Attacking Clipper Guards

With Patrick Beverley out tonight for the Clippers, the Mavericks should take every opportunity to attack whichever Clipper guard coach Tyronn Lue throws out there. With the likes of Reggie Jackson getting starters minutes tonight as well as Lou Williams and Luke Kennard coming off the bench, the Dallas guards should be able to take advantage on the offensive end of the floor.
