What to watch for as the Mavs return home to take on Phoenix

The Dallas Mavericks return home to take on the Phoenix Suns at 8-11 after back-to-back losses against Utah.

The Mavericks have lost four straight games and have lost seven of the last nine games.

Luka’s frustration

I’m interested to see how Luka Doncic and the Mavs respond after showing real frustration in the media for the first time since arriving in Dallas. After Friday nights loss in Utah, Luka was asked about his thoughts on how the team is performing to which he responded “terrible.” Luka went on to say that he’s never felt like this before and the team has to do better.

Mavs catch another break

The Mavs’ struggles against Phoenix are well documented as the Mavs have lost three straight overall to the Suns. However, Mavs nemesis Devin Booker will be out due to a left hamstring strain. The Mavs were unable to take advantage of Donovan Mitchell and Derrick Favors being out against the Jazz.

KP struggles

Kristaps Porzingis enters Saturday’s game going 18-50 (36%) from the field in his past three games and 4-20 (20%) from the three point line. Depending on if he plays, as he’s currently listed as questionable, hopefully KP can’t shake out of his funk offensively and be active on the boards to end Dallas’ losing streak.
