DSF Roundup: Writers give final thoughts on Cowboys, Panthers matchup

JuwanThe hype all week has been about the matchup between the Cowboys’ offense and this Panthers’ defense. However, I believe the biggest difference is this isn’t the best team Dallas has played so far. That isn’t the case for Carolina. Tyrod Taylor, Jameis Winston and Zach Wilson have been the slate of quarterbacks Carolina has faced, so there’s no question this is their toughest test on both sides of the ball. I will buy into the hype that this Carolina defensive line is legit, but that’s the extent of my belief in that team. Them also being without the most complete running back in the league, Christian McCaffrey, will also force Sam Darnold to make plays down the field. I think Dallas takes advantage of that and shows they are a far more complete team than the Panthers. Give me Dallas 28, Carolina 14.

CoreyComing into the week, I felt this was a game that was going to be heavily favored for the Cowboys. However, as the week went on, I started respecting their defense more and more. The defense over there is real. The biggest key to this game is starting fast for this Cowboys offense and forcing Carolina to play from behind for the first time in 2021. I believe the Cowboys will do that and force at least one turnover for Sam Darnold.

Dylan: Just like last week, this week represents a huge opportunity for the Cowboys. The difference between 3-1 and 2-2 seems huge when it comes to building major momentum towards a strong season. They were able to step up and comfortably take care of business last week, and I expect them to do the same today against a higher-quality opponent. This group is hungry and seemingly more focused than teams from the past few years. Give me Cowboys 31-19.
